This email is to notify you that the Certifying Acceptance Agent(CAA)Telephone line in the Austin ITIN Unit has resumed operation. Please note that although this service has resumed, the Austin ITIN Unit is working with limited staffing to answer telephone calls and process W‐7 applications. Form W‐7 applications are processed on a first‐in first‐out basis. If you submitted an application in January or February 2020, they can research those records to provide the status, as those applications have likely been processed. At a minimum, for them to conduct the research, you will need to provide your identifying information (i.e. name, EIN, Office Code) and the applicant’s name, date of birth and country of citizenship.
However, if you submitted an application in March 2020 or later, it has not been processed yet due to affected IRS Operations. For these applications please allow at least 6 weeks from this notification prior to calling or emailing about the status. You can also visit our website at www.irs.gov for the latest information on affected IRS operations and services . Thank you for your patience as we continue to serve America’s taxpayers amid current challenges.
